Rochester police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a neighborhood store owner. They’ve charged 30-year-old Gilberto Rivera with second degree murder for the slaying of Chernet Tiruneh.
The 34-year-old Tiruneh was shot down inside Chappa Grocery on Grand Avenue, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tiruneh, known as “Alex” or “Chappa,” was a beloved figure in the Beechwood Neighborhood.
Rivera was arrested by the RPD’s Tactical Unit.
