Rochester police have arrested a city man in connection with a crash on March 11th that killed a bicycle rider on Jay Street.

That crash killed 57-year-old Kerry Traver of Rochester. He was found in the road with severe injuries, and died later at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police later identified 18-year-old Benzino Reed of Rochester as the driver involved in the crash. He was driving east on Jay Street that night when he tried to pass another car, went into the westbound lane, and hit the victim as he rode west on Jay. Reed then fled without reporting the accident. Police say he then sold the car to Northside Salvage and had it crushed in order to hide the evidence.

Reed has been charged with second degree manslaughter and evidence tampering, and sent to court Thursday morning.
