Rochester holds on to edge the Utica Comets, 2-1, on the road.

UTICA, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans ended their 6-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over the Utica Comets on Wednesday night in a matchup of North Division rivals.

Cole Schneider broke up the scoreless game 4 minutes into the second period with his 8th goal of the season, off an assist from Cal O’Reilly.

In the final minute of the period, O’Reilly netted his fourth goal of the season, off an assist from Schneider and Paul Geiger, for a 2-0 lead.

Goalie Linus Ullmark recorded 34 saves in earning the victory. The Comets outshot Rochester, 35-21, as they broke up the shutout bid in the third stanza.

The Amerks return to the Blue Cross Arena at 7:05 pm on Friday to take on the Toronto Marlies.
