Casey Nelson nets the game-winner as Rochester earned 5 of 6 points this week.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans overcame a 3-1 deficit to complete a 2-game weekend sweep of the Binghamton Devils with a 4-3 overtime victory on Saturday night before 3,998 fans at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

Defenseman Casey Nelson scored the game-winner 2:04 into the overtime period to complete the comeback win for the Amerks. Kevin Porter and Hudson Fasching assisted on the play.

The Devils utilized a pair of short-handed goals to take control of the game. The first short-handed goal tied the game 1-1 in the opening period.

A second short-handed marker gave Binghamton a 3-1 margin in period two.

Zach Redmond opened the scoring for the Amerks in the first stanza off assists from Sahir Gill and Evan Rodrigues.

Brendan Guhle drew the Amerks to within one goal midway through the final stanza when he scored on a power play, off assists from Porter and Nick Baptiste.

C.J. Smith tallied the equalizer with 4:15 to play in regulation off assists from Stuart Percy and Redmond.

Adam Wilcox picked up the win as he made 16 saves. Rochester outshot Binghamton, 32-19.

The Amerks (11-5-2-1) travel to Utica Wednesday night to take on the Comets, then return to the Blue Cross Arena on Friday, Dec. 1, versus the Hartford Wolf Pack.

*NOTES — Forward Justin Bailey did not play in this game for the Amerks…The Amerks outshot the Devils in every period, but they allowed 2 short-handed goals. That’s 4 short-handed goals Rochester has given up in the last 3 games as they yielded 2 SH goals in the 6-5 overtime loss against the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday…The parent Buffalo Sabres gave up a short-handed goal in the 3-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night north of the border. It was the 7th SH goal the Sabres allowed already this season. They only yielded 4 SH goals last season.
