Rochester prepares for a weekend trip to St. John’s against the IceCaps.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Americans on Wednesday announced the team has recalled forward Justin Kea, defenseman Brycen Martin and goaltender John Muse from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.
Kea, 22, rejoins the Amerks from Elmira after appearing in three games with the Amerks to begin the season, picking up an assist. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound forward also played in three games with the Jackals this season, recording three shots. A native of Woodville, Ontario, Kea has appeared in 62 career games with the Amerks since the 2013-14 season, recording four points on two goals and two assists. Kea was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (73rd overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Martin, 20, joins Rochester after playing in three contests with the Jackals to begin the campaign. Last season, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound blueliner played in 66 contests in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Everett Silvertips and Saskatoon Blades, picking up 37 points (6+31) between the two clubs. He made his pro debut with the Amerks near the end of the 2014-15 season, appearing in three games. Martin was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (74th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Muse, 28, joins the Amerks on his first recall of the season. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound netminder currently owns a 2-0-0 record through two games with the Jackals. A native of East Falmouth, Mass., Muse currently ranks fourth and sixth among ECHL netminders with a .963 save percentage and a 1.44 goals0against average, respectively.
The three players will join the Amerks as they continue their 2-game road swing on Friday, Oct. 28 in St. John’s against the IceCaps at 6 p.m. EST at Mile One Centre. The contest can be heard live on the Sports Leader 95.7 FM/950 AM ESPN Rochester.
