‘Wear Your Stripes to Show You Care Night’ to be held on Feb. 17, as the players will wear red and white striped socks.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans announced on Thursday that the team has partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Rochester and Entercom Rochester to host “Wear Your Stripes to Show You Care Night” on Friday, Feb. 17 when the Amerks take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena.
“The Amerks organization is proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities in support of this very worthy initiative,” said Rob Kopacz, Vice President of Business Operations for the Amerks. “RMHC has been assisting families in need in our community for almost three decades through their various programming and outreach and we’re excited to bring more awareness to their ongoing efforts.”
“For years the Rochester Amerks have been supporting RMHC Rochester,” said RMHC Chapter President Carol DeMoulin. “Numerous times players, staff and even the mascot have come to the House to cook for our families. It certainly brings a smile to the faces of the kids staying here! This new phase in our partnership is so exciting. We know that the Amerks have a loyal fan base, and with the team getting on board with our Wear Your Stripes campaign, we are confident that our message will be heard by many! We’re really looking forward to seeing the players in their striped socks on February 17.”
Now in its third year, the annual “Wear Your Stripes to Show You Care” campaign has become an annual event for RMHC to help raise awareness of the organization and educate the local community about its mission, initiatives, programs and impact in the Greater Rochester Area. Rochesterians are encouraged to wear red and white stripes throughout the day on Feb. 17 and post their photos on social media using #ROCforRMHC. Red and white striped socks and hats are available now at the three area-malls, Parkleigh and at the House on Westmoreland Drive. Last year, more than 2,500 pairs of socks were sold throughout the campaign, which raised more than $17,000 for RMHC of Rochester. The Amerks players will support the initiative by wearing special red and white striped socks during their game against the Sound Tigers.
Members of RMHC will be on hand at the game as well as Ronald McDonald, who will be accepting donations and selling special striped hats and socks on the main concourse of The Blue Cross Arena with all proceeds going to the RMHC. Fans can receive one item with a $5 donation or purchase both for $10.
The Amerks are offering a special $20 ticket package that includes one Best Available Lower Level ticket to the game on Feb. 17 and a choice of either a striped hat or socks. Fans can purchase additional hats or socks at $5 per item with all proceeds going to RHMC. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the ticket package will also be donated to RMHC. All the money raised will stay in Rochester to support the two local Ronald McDonald Houses.
