Rochester signs Garrett Ross to an AHL contract.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Americans General Manager Randy Sexton announced on Friday that the team has signed forward Garret Ross to a one-year American Hockey League contract.
Ross appeared in 27 games last season with the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL), recording four points (1+3) and 39 penalty minutes. Prior to joining Tucson for the 2016-17 campaign, the 25-year-old native of Dearborn Heights, MI., totaled 97 points (43+54) in 210 games for the Rockford IceHogs over parts of four seasons from 2012-16.
A fifth-round pick (139th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-0, 176-pound forward played four years with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, recording 170 points (82+88) in 217 games. During the 2012-13 season, Ross finished fifth in the OHL with 44 goals and 90 points while ranking second in scoring among all Saginaw skaters.
