Nick Baptiste scores twice to lead Rochester to a 3-2 win over the Thunderbirds.
The Rochester Americans made three first-period goals stand-up on Sunday afternoon as the Amerks held off the host Springfield Thunderbirds, 3-2.
The Buffalo Sabres announced that the team has assigned forwards Nicholas Baptiste and Cole Schneider, and defenseman Justin Falk, to the Rochester Americans on Sunday. The trio made the journey to Springfield, MA., in time to join the Amerks for their 3 pm game against the THunderbirds.
The hosts grabbed a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, but the Amerks knotted the count at 1-1 when MacBennett scored his first goal of the season for Rochester. Eric Cornel and Taylor Fedun assisted on the play.
Baptiste tallied twice in 72 seconds to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage. Cole Schneider assisted on the second goal, and team captain Cal O’Reilly contributed assists on both of Baptiste’s goals.
Goalie Linus Ullmark registered 25 saves in earning the victory.
The Amerks (7-6) return to the Blue Cross Arena on Wednesday for a 7:05 pm faceoff against the Albany Devils (8-4).
