Rochester’s turnovers costly in 3-2 loss to the Crunch.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Americans currently cannot stand prosperity as the Amerks squandered a 2-0 lead after two period and lost to the Syracuse Crunch, 3-2, on Military Appreciation Night Friday before 8,051 fans at the Blue Cross Arena in the Community War Memorial.

The Amerks turned the puck over on all three Crunch goals in the third stanza.

“We knew entering the final 20 minutes, Syracuse was going to come hard,” said Amerks head coach Dan Lambert. “They forced us to made unforced errors and capitalized on them by scoring three goals.”

Erik Condra skated behind the changing Amerks defenseman. As he slipped past the left defenseman, he lifted a backhander between the right arm and body of Ullmark to even the score at two..

“I knew Condra was going to shoot the puck despite the angle he had,” said Ullmark. “He shot the puck and it squeezed through my arm and body and that is a goal. I feel I should have made the save but unfortunately did not.”

The Amerks leading scorer, Cole Schneider, netted his fifth goal of the season when defenseman Taylor Fedun kept the puck in the Crunch’s zone, then blasted a shot from the right point that Schneider redirected past Syracuse goalie Kristers Gudlevski.

Rookie Alex Nylander gave Rochester a 2-0 advantage as he took a pass from Evan Rodriguez in center ice, broke down the right wing and wrist-ed a shot past the netminder from the right circle.

Rochester goalie Linus Ullmark had another busy night as he recorded 29 saves. Gudlevski finished with 16 for Syracuse.
