Rochester goalie Linus Ullmark turns in another outstanding game with 40 saves.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans lost another heartbreaker against the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday night before 3,591 fans at the Blue Cross Arena.
The Amerks were unable to take advantage of an excellent performance by goalie Linus Ullmark as they fell, 2-1, to the Marlies in a shootout. Ullmark was outstanding in net, making 40 saves as the Amerks had to kill off a penalty in the overtime period.
The loss was just the second in 7 games against Toronto this season.
The Marlies took a 1-0 lead 3:37 into the first period. Hudson Fasching knotted the count, 1-1, for the Amerks 3:35 into the second stanza. Brady Austin assisted on the play.
From that point on Ullmark thwarted Toronto but his teammates were unable to put the puck by the Toronto keeper.
Justin Bailey, Jean Dupuy, and rookie Daniel Muzito-Bagenda led Rochester with 3 shots on goal apiece.
The Amerks are home on Friday night with a 7:05 faceoff against the Albany Devils.
