Rochester clinches home ice for the opening round after a 2-1 win in Cleveland.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans announced today the team’s home dates for the first-round of the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Following their 2-1 win over Cleveland tonight, Rochester is guaranteed at least a second-place finish or better in the American Hockey League’s North Division, securing the Amerks home ice for the best-of-five opening round series.

The Amerks will host Games 1, presented by Nissan, and 2 at the Blue Cross Arena on Friday, April 19 at 7:05 pm and Sunday, April 21 at 3:05 pm, respectively, and if necessary, Game 5 on Sunday, April 28 at 5:05 pm. The complete opening round schedule will be released at a later date as soon as Rochester’s first-round opponent has been determined. The first 3,000 fans in attendance for Game 1 will receive a custom Amerks hard hat, courtesy of Nissan.

Tickets for all first-round home games are on sale now. Individual game tickets for Round One of the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs start as low as just $14 and range in price up to $28 depending on seat location. All tickets purchased on the day of the game will increase by $2.

Fans also have the opportunity to purchase all potential home playoff games with a Playoff Pack, which are currently on sale. Convenient payment options are available and guarantee your seating at the lowest rates for all home playoff games at The Blue Cross Arena. Additionally, new and current Amerks Season Ticket Members will be able to purchase additional single-game tickets for all first-round home playoff games for as little as $12.

Sabres return trio

The Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday announced the team has assigned forwards Alexander Nylander and Victor Olofsson, and defenseman Lawrence Pilut to the Rochester Americans.

Amerks sign defenseman

Rochester Americans General Manager Randy Sexton announced on Tuesday that the team has signed defenseman Justin Baudry to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2019-20 season.

Baudry, 22, recently completed a four-year collegiate career at Bemidji State University (WCHA), where he amassed 68 points (21+47) in 146 games with the Beavers, which ranks fifth all-time amongst defensemen. As a senior, he was named to the WCHA Second All-Star Team after leading all scorers with 31 points (9+22) while serving as a co-captain.

Following his four years at Bemidji State University, the 5-foot-11, 198-pound blueliner made his professional debut with the Ontario Reign, notching one assist in two American Hockey League games while on an Amateur Tryout.

Prior to joining the Beavers, the LaBroquerie, Manitoba, native tallied 32 points (2+30) in 58 games with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League while serving as an assistant captain. Additionally, he collected 62 points (9+53) over two seasons with the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and added nine points (1+8) in 31 postseason contests from 2012 to 2014.
