The Rochester Americans partner with Monroe County to co-host the day.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans and Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced they will co-host America Recycles Day on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when the Amerks take on the Binghamton Devils at the Blue Cross Arena. The game will feature ticket deals and a recycling-themed giveaway.

“America Recycles Day is an opportunity for us to consider the ways we already recycle and identify opportunities for us to do better, starting with our biggest problem area – plastic bags,” said Dinolfo. “We can all do a little more to preserve our beautiful community, and I’m proud to work with the Amerks to communicate this important message not just to hockey fans but to all County residents with a stake in the future of our community.

Reducing consumption of plastic bags is the best environmental option for residents, so fans attending the game will receive a reusable shopping bag as a postgame handout. Additionally, any fan that brings a recyclable item to the Monroe County Ecopark on one of the following dates will receive free ticket vouchers to the game:
• Wednesday, Nov. 8
• Wednesday, Nov. 15

“The Rochester Americans are excited to renew their partnership with Monroe County Executive Dinolfo and her staff in the Department of Environmental Services on this very worthwhile initiative,” said Warren Kosel, Director of Public and Media Relations for the Amerks. “America Recycles Day provides yet another opportunity to not only help raise awareness for improving recycling measures here in our community, but also rewards County residents for doing their part with the chance to attend an Amerks game this season.

Dinolfo and the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services are also asking fans to recycle their plastic bags properly, either by reuse or by bringing them to a retailer or supermarket. Plastic bags should not be thrown in the garbage and should not be recycled in curbside bins.

Bags will also be accepted at America Recycles Day at the Blue Cross Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Any fans who bring recyclable bags to the game will receive a voucher good for 75% off one regular-priced ticket, which can be redeemed for either the game that night or any remaining Wednesday night Amerks home game at the Blue Cross Arena. One voucher will be distributed per person.

The Ecopark is located at 10 Avion Drive and is open on Wednesdays from 1 pm to 6:30 pm, and on Saturdays from 7:30 am to 1 pm. For a full list of what is accepted there and for which items there are fees and necessary appointments, visit www.ecoparkmcny.com.
