Two court-appointed psychiatrists will examine Kyle Gorden, the Fairport teenager arrested this week on charges of planning to attack a school. A preliminary hearing set for Friday has been postponed while the 19-year-old’s competence to stand trial is determined.
The doctors have to determine if Gorden is capable of understanding the charges against him, the seriousness of his situation and is able to assist his attorney with his defense.
Kyle Gorden was arrested after dropping what amounted to a terror attack shopping list at a sporting goods store in Victor. His attorney, Bill Easton, says Gorden suffers from serious mental health problems, is obsessed with death, and talked about wanting to kill large numbers of people.
