Rochester still is looking for its first win in the new NAPB league.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Albany Patroons (3-1) opened up a 16-point, halftime lead and never looked back as they rolled to a 110-95 win over the visiting Rochester Razorsharks (0-6) Monday night in North American Premier Basketball (NAPB) action. It was the third win in three contests against Rochester on the first game back for former NBA player, Jamario Moon’s return to the Patroons.

Moon scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while the Patroons were led by Lloyd Johnson who scored 26 points off the bench. Edwin Ubiles (18 points) and Torren Jones (15 points) also chipped in for Albany.

“I’ve said from day one that this team has the intensity and the determination to be great champions,” Albany head coach Derrick Rowland said. “I believe that as much today, as ever. We will look to revenge our only loss so far against the Ohio Cardinals tomorrow night here in the Armory.”

Albany shot 52.6 percent compared to Rochester’s 39.6 percent effort. Phil Valenti scored 17 points to lead Rochester, while Jerice Crouch, John Ivy, and Bernard Edwards all scored 15 points in the defeat.

“You can’t win games when you give the ball away 23 times,” Rochester head coach Chris Iversen said of his team’s turnovers. “We played well at times, but would shoot ourselves in the foot every time we would go on any kind of run. Albany has a really good team and they are a tough group who show a certain level of trust in each other on the court. They are where we need to get to. Derrick has done a phenomenal job with his team.”
