The WNY Flash defender will play the offseason in Australia.

BUFFALO, N.Y.– The Western New York Flash announced on Friday that the club has loaned defender Alanna Kennedy to Sydney FC of the W-League in Australia for the offseason.

A member of the 2016 NWSL Champions, Kennedy played in 17 games, logging 1,538 minutes in her debut season in the league. The Campbelltown, Australia native also registered one assist in the Flash’s 5-2 win against Sky Blue FC on May 21.

Sydney FC will begin their season against Brisbane Roar FC on Saturday, November 5. The team’s full schedule can be viewed here. Sydney FC finished their 2015-16 campaign as the runner-up of the W-League.

Kennedy will return to the Western New York Flash prior to the start of the 2017 NWSL season.
