A Rochester-area contractor has been ordered to pay a $175,000 penalty plus make full restitution to customers he bilked out of some $24,000.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office says Brian Robinson of Apex Construction collected payment in advance for snowplowing and home improvement projects, then either did a sub-par job or failed to do anything. He also promised refunds to dissatisfied customers but never paid.
Attoney General Schneiderman says he’s also seeking a permanent injunction against Robinson barring him from running a home improvement business unless he posts a $100,000 insurance bond. He’ll be in State Supreme Court on September 20th to answer the charges.
