New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is encouraging New Yorkers to test the speed of their broadband internet service…and submit the results to his website as part of his department’s ongoing investigation into whether internet service providers are delivering what they promise.
Schneiderman is already suing Time Warner Cable and Charter Communications for scheming to defraud customers by promising speeds they knew their system couldn’t deliver. The attorney general says you can find a speed test tool on his website that will check your download speeds and let you see if your provider is giving you the speed you’re paying for. If not, Schneiderman says he wants to know about it.
There are several other online tools available that can check internet speeds for you. You can find them with a Google search.
