A day after announcing formation of a new Monroe County Heroin Task Force, authorities have charged a Rochester man with criminally negligent homicide in the overdose death of a Gates man.
Gates Police say 33-year-old Sean Vaniderstine died on January 25th of an apparent drug overdose. They identified two men who sold heroin to the victim. One, 34-year-old Darnell Tillmon of Greece, was arrested in late January and charged as a drug dealer. But they identified 26-year-old Brian Saez of Rochester as the man who sold Vaniderstine heroin about an hour before his death. Saez was arrested by an undercover detail on Wednesday.
Saez was charged with criminally negligent homicide in addition to drug dealing. He’s being held without bail as a double-predicate felon with four previous felony convictions. He was on parole for DWI.
Police say they may bring more charges against both men after toxicology tests are completed. That will likely take another six months.
