A report from the New York State Attorney General’s Office has concluded the death of a Rochester 911 dispatcher and a city police officer was a case of murder-suicide.
Janet Jordan, 35, was found shot to death in her home on Wetmore Park on March 14. Later that day, the body of Rochester Police Sgt. Melvin Williams was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a park in Henrietta.
Phone records showed Williams sent messages to his wife, family members and a fellow officer that he planned to take his own life early that morning. Surveillance footage showed him leaving Jordan’s house and driving away.
