
All across New York State, bells tolled and names were read aloud as people gathered to remember the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

From Brockport, where the Volunteer Firefighters Association tolled a vigil bell, to the University of Rochester where the memorial carillon sounded, the Rochester area also marked the anniversary. Area fire companies, schools including Monroe Community College and local
governments all held individual commemorations through the day.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation extending the period for workers and volunteers at the September 11th cleanup in New York City to seek lost wages and medical benefits. The governor said thousands of men and women who stepped up in New York’s darkest hour when the World Trade Centers were struck are still dealing with the aftereffects.
The bill allows them until September 11th, 2018 to register under the WTC Disability Law.
