Empire State Development has approved $81 million in funding to Rochester’s AIM Photonics project. The money will be used to fund the Testing Assembly and Packaging Facility for the Photonics Institute.
The TAP is due to begin construction this summer in the Eastman Business Park on Ridge Road in Rochester. The $81 million will cover the cost of equipping the facility with tools and equipment needed to produce optical chips and other photonics components.
Governor Cuomo says this is continued investment in a rapidly developing industry and will accelerate the growth of Rochester and the entire region.
