Wilin Rosario’s homer rallies Rochester to a 9-6 win over the PawSox.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jaylin Davis smacked his fourth homer since making his Triple-A debut on June 19th, and Wilin Rosario’s three-run shot in the eighth inning boosted the Rochester Red Wings to a 9-6 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox Saturday night at Frontier Field.
Rochester registered the game’s first hit and first run of the game against Pawtucket starter Ryan Weber. In the second inning, Davis crushed his fourth home run as a Red Wing this season over the fence in center field.
Pawtucket evened the score in the top of the third inning against Red Wings’ starter Preston Guilmet with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Josh Tobias, scoring Chris Owings. Guilmet allowed two more baserunners to reach first and second in the inning before Zack Littell was brought on in relief with two outs. Littell gave up an RBI single to Chad De La Guerra to give the PawSox a 2-1 lead. Guilmet finished his outing throwing 2.2 innings while allowing one hit, two unearned runs, one walk, and striking out four. 33 of his 50 pitches were for strikes.
The Wings tied the game in the bottom of the fourth against Weber. Jordany Valdespin led off the inning with a single that extended his on-base streak to five games. Tomas Telis hit a single of his own in the next at bat allowing Valdespin to reach third, which was followed up by an RBI groundout from Ronald Torreyes making the score 2-2.
The PawSox re-took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run off the bat of Owings. Gorkys Hernandez extended the lead later in the inning with a 2-run home run to make it a 5-2 game. After Littell walked the next batter, Jake Reed was brought on in relief with two outs. Littell pitched two innings and gave up three runs in his first appearance back in Rochester after making four appearances in a stint with Minnesota..
Weber finished his start throwing 5.0 innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs, one walk, and striking out seven. He threw 84 pitches, 57 for strikes.
Pawtucket tacked on another run in the top of the seventh on a fielder’s choice that allowed Juan Centeno to cross the plate and give the PawSox a 6-2 lead.
Rochester cut into the lead in the bottom of the seventh against Pawtucket reliever Jordan Weems. Nick Gordon and Brent Rooker led off the inning with consecutive walks, and moved to second and third on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Zander Wiel hit a sacrifice fly allowing Gordon to score and Rooker to advance to third, bringing the Wings back within three runs.
Reed pitched 2.1 innings while striking out three batters and giving up one run. Carlos Torres came on in relief in the eighth to make his first appearance in Rochester as a member of the Red Wings, and pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
Rochester fought all the way back in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Dan Runzler. Telis sparked a rally with a double down the left field line, followed by a single by Torreyes to put runners and first and third. In the next at bat, Drew Maggi ripped and RBI single to left driving in Telis from Third. Gordon followed him up with a game-tying two RBI single. After Rooker was hit by a pitch, placing runners at first and third, Rosario launched a towering shot over the right field fence for his ninth home run of the year, giving Rochester a 9-6 lead. The Wings sent nine men to plate in the inning, and registered six hits while scoring six runs.
Ian Krol came on in relief of Torres in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded and one out and shut the door on the PawSox.
