Two teenage suspects accused of setting fire to a man pleaded not guilty to the charges against then on Monday. Bail for 14-year-old Adriel Riley Jr and 16-year-old Zayvion Perry was set at $500,000 each.
Riley and Perry pleaded not guilty on two charges each of second degree murder, one count each of arson and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. Riley’s attorney requested a psychiatric exam, and that request was granted.
The two allegedly doused 53-year-old Steven Amenhauser with a flammable liquid in his apartment on Lyell Avenue and set him on fire. He suffered burns over 70 percent of his body and died four days later.
