A Rochester woman was high on drugs and driving without a license when she smashed her car into a house on Thomas Street on Tuesday, sending five children to the hospital.

The crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. and the car ended up inside the house’s living room. The children, whose ages range from two to 13, were inside the home at the time. Police say their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The 47-year-old driver was not injured, but was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, and with aggravated unlicensed operation.

The home was rendered unliveable, and the Red Cross was helping the occupants find alternate housing.
