Two developers are showing off their proposal for Rochester’s Midtown Parcel 5 as the city gets ready to begin interviews with backers of the four potential projects for the land next week.
Patrick Dutton and Andy Gallina say theirs is the fourth proposal submitted to City Hall by its deadline for development plans earlier this month. They rolled out details of what they call “Celebrating Rochester” in a news conference.
It would be a $30 million, 14-story mixed-use building at the corner of Main and Cortland Streets. It would have more than 30 condominiums, plus three floors of restaurant, commercial and retail shopping. It would also have a green space on the center of the lot that could serve as a festival or events site. Parking would be underground.
Dutton and Gallina are the team currently renovating the former Chase-Lincoln Tower at Main and Clinton. They’re up against the Rochester Broadway Theater League’s plan for a downtown performing arts center, a plan to divide the space into a series of residential and retail building sites and a proposal to keep the area as a park-like green space, surrounded by small shops for retailers and small businesses.
Parcel 5 is the last of the former Midtown Plaza land to remain unbuilt. It’s the only large open land on Main Street.
