Four teenagers have been charged with gang assault by Rochester Police after what they describe as an unprovoked assault in downtown Rochester on Wednesday. Two of the four have pleaded not guilty in City Court. All four will be referred to  a Monroe County Grand Jury.

Police say a citizen called 911 to report an assault being streamed on Facebook Live at Main and Clinton. Downtown Section officers converged on the area and found a man in his 30s with a head injury. His suspect descriptions led to four teens who were still in the area. Police caught all four after separate foot chases.

Two 16-year-olds were charged with first degree gang assault, as were a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old. Police say this was a “completely unprovoked” attack on a man who is recovering at the hospital.

Police say their investigation is still underway and more charges may be coming.
