The Buffalo Bills hold the No. 9 draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.. Their next selection will take place on Day 2 of the draft, which is No. 40 overall. While the Bills will most likely come home with a sure-fire standout with the ninth pick, the odds become a bit slimmer as subsequent picks and rounds progress.
Buffalo can find a starter or productive players on Day 2 or Day 3, but the odds are better as players are picked closer to the top of team’s draft boards.
Sitting at the 40th pick is an interesting spot for the Bills. They could easily land a solid prospect at this point. However, there is a chance that a player whom Buffalo rates highly, with possibly a first-round grade, is still sitting on the board at the end of the first night.
If that scenario occurs, general manager Brandon Beane could use some of his draft assets to move back into round one.
Here are four teams with whom the Bills could trade up with in April’s draft:

Here are four teams with whom the Bills could trade up with in April’s draft:
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have multiple first-round picks, with the second one at the No. 30 spot. Green Bay already has 10 draft picks, but they may look to continue to bolster their roster with additional assets. The Packers could drop back 10 spots and pick up draft capital from the Bills in a potential deal. Aaron Rodgers is 35 years old and there will be an emphasis in surrounding him with as much talent as possible, as soon as possible.
Los Angeles Rams
The Super Bowl LIII runner-up have the second last selection in the first round. The team will return most of their core from last year’s Super Bowl run. They do not have a second-round pick, and moving down with the Bills could help to add draft capital to have flexibility as Day 2 continues.
A team with few holes, the Rams could find a fit with the No. 40-overall draft spot while adding assets. The team has several major players entering the final year of their contracts, including Andrew Whitworth, Dante Fowler, Michael Brockers, Aquib Talib, and Marcus Peters. Los Angeles may find some of their understudies to these players in this year’s draft.
Arizona Cardinals
Okay, here’s the bonus. Technically, we wanted to explore the Bills moving back into the first round with this piece. However, taking the first spot on Day 2 qualifies as close enough. Simply put, Arizona is in need of players. The Cardinals would benefit from adding draft assets and rebuilding their roster after a disastrous 2018 campaign.
