A regional flight from Newark, New Jersey to Toronto ended up making an emergency landing in Rochester today after the jet’s cabin filled with smoke.
The Express Jet flight was a Brazilian-made Embraer 145. It was actually the third plane assigned to that particular flight.
The first jet took off from Newark, but suddenly returned for an unexplained reason. The passengers eventually boarded a second jet, then were told to get off, again no reason given. The third jet then had problems in-flight and landed in Rochester.
Several passengers rented a car together and drove back to New Jersey.
