Syracuse-area State Senator John DeFrancisco has filed paperwork to begin running for governor. The long-time Republican lawmaker joins Assemblyman Brian Kolb from Canandaigua and former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra as Republicans interested in challenging Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo.
DeFrancisco has scheduled an announcement in Syracuse for this evening. He’s the deputy majority leader of the senate and a frequent critic of Governor Cuomo’s economic development policies.
