The New York State Department of Transportation says the rebuild of I-390 through Brighton south of the airport is on schedule and will be finished in 2017.
DOT Regional Director Kevin Bush told a news conference today that crews are now on the final phase of the project: the interchanges between 390 and East Henrietta Road. Once the work is done, drivers trying to get on-and-off the expressway from Route 15A near Village Gate will no longer have to make left turns across traffic and tie up the road.
I-390 carries about 200,000 vehicles a day through that area near the University of Rochester campus.
