Rasmus Ristolainen is the lone Buffalo Sabre eliminated from the semifinals.

Team Canada (2-0) fell behind early to the United States (0-2), but stormed back to win 4-2 in the World Cup of Hockey on Tuesday at Air Canada Centre. The loss eliminated Team USA from qualifying for the semifinals.

Matt Duchene scored twice as Canada put home four goals in a row to rebound from a 1-0 deficit and seal a dominant victory. Buffalo Sabres forward Ryan O’Reilly, who centered a line featuring Duchene and Joe Thornton, finished the game with one shot and a takeaway. He was on the ice for both of Duchene’s goals and logged 12:43 of ice time.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and Team Russia earned their first win of the World Cup on Monday, defeating Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel and the high-flying North Americans 4-3 at Air Canada Centre.

Both teams are now 1-1 with one game each remaining in the preliminary round. Only the top two seeds from each pool advance to the semifinals.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen and his Team Finland teammates are 0-2 and also cannot qualify for the semifinals.
