RFD-Fire Truck GenericDozens of Rochester-area firefighters tackled a three-alarm fire at a boarded-up building on St. Paul Street early Sunday morning.

The fire at 2100 St. Paul was immediately upgraded to a third alarm because fire was showing on three sides of the building, and it had already been a busy night for Rochester firefighters. They dealt with fires at 791 West Broad Street and 115 Bay Street just a couple of hours before the St. Paul Street fire, and another fire was called in at 196 Akron Street shortly after.

The Rochester Fire Department says it took seven engines, four trucks, rescue personnel and firefighters from around the city to handle the fire. Departments from Greece, West Webster, Gates and Brighton filled in across the city to make sure there was adequate coverage.

The Rochester building was badly damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Nobody was hurt.

The burned building belongs to Monroe County Pure Waters, and is on a lot directly across from the entrance of the Seneca Park Zoo used for zoo overflow parking.
