The Rochester Police Department and Crime Stoppers are putting up a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting off Officer Jeremy Nash. Chief Michael Ciminelli said in a news conference that the RPD and the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are looking for the public’s help.

Officer Nash was shot near the face late Saturday night as he sat in the passenger seat of an unmarked police car. He was hit with buckshot as the officers responded to a call. Police aren’t sure if the officer was the intended target or if the gunfire was random.

Chief Ciminelli said police investigators are canvassing the northeast Rochester neighborhood and have already gotten some tips. He says $15,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest, while the ATF is offering another $10,000.

Office Nash was treated and released from the hospital and is recovering.
