An Amtrak train smashed into an unoccupied car at the Pixley Road Crossing in Gates Monday evening. Nobody was hurt, but the train and its passengers were substantially delayed. Gates police say a vehicle got stuck on the tracks and the occupants fled when they realized the train was coming.
