Town of Canandaigua Calls For Water Conservation Measures

The long dry spell leading into the start of summer has led the Town of Canandaigua to issue a water conservation advisory through Thursday. The Ontario County town is asking its water customers not to wash cars or water lawns and gardens due to low water levels. The notice is on the town’s web page.

City Man Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver

A 47-year-old man was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing North Clinton Avenue at Avenue A late last night. Police found the city resident lying in the road with a leg injury. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover. Police are trying to find the driver.

Water Main Break Snarls Traffic

A water main break under the ramp from westbound I-490 to South Clinton Avenue scrambled traffic into downtown this morning by shutting down the main route for east-siders coming into the center city. Traffic backed up all the way from the city to Route 441 in Penfield.
