Two-year-old Zayden Phillips has died at Strong Memorial Hospital of the injuries he suffered when he was shot in the head on Friday.
Has father, 34-year-old Charles Phillips, may now face additional charges. He’s already scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow morning on charges of first degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. Papers filed in court say Phillips shot his son while behaving recklessly with a 9 millimeter pistol.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office says a grand jury will now decide if more charges are appropriate.
