Two children were hit by SUVs in Rochester yesterday…one while riding a bike and the other while on a tricycle.
The first incident happened on Weaver Street about 5:00 p.m. Police say a GMC Envoy hit a child who rode his bike out into the street. The driver wasn’t ticketed and the child escaped with just scrapes and bruises. He was treated at Strong Memorial Hospital.
More seriously injured was a three year old riding a trike across a driveway on Ries Street. A 69-year-old driver was backing his Hummer out of the driveway and couldn’t see the child, who suffered a broken leg when the SUV hit him. He was taken to Strong Memorial as well and is recovering.
Again, no tickets were issued.
