A Genesee County deputy who went to check out a possible disabled vehicle by the side of Peoria Road in Pavilion found it full of stolen property. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says it appears the items were stolen in three different counties.
The deputy found two men sleeping in the back of the car: 21-year-old Stormy Watts of Stafford and 22-year-old Daniel Lewis of North Chili. Both said they were waiting for someone to bring them gas. But the deputy found Lewis in possession of a gun, although he’s a convicted felon. The search also turned up numerous stolen items including electronics, handbags and wallets.
Authorities believe the items were stolen in Genesee, Livingston and Monroe Counties and were likely stolen from vehicles. They’re attempting to locate all the property owners.
Lewis and Watts are facing numerous charges including criminal possession of stolen property, and are being held in the Genesee County Jail pending bail.
