Forward Josh Currier and defenseman Frank Brown are selected by the Philadelphia Wings.
The Philadelphia Wings selected two players from the Rochester Knighthawks in Monday’s National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft. The Wings chose forward Josh Currier with the seventh overall pick and then took defenseman Frank Brown with the ninth selection.
“They are two young competitors who were key contributors to our success this past year,” said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. “They will be sorely missed.”
During the 2017-18 season, Currier notched 17 goals and 14 assists in 16 games. The 25-year-old also scored 10 goals and added 5 assists during the Knighthawks’ 2018 playoff run. In his 2 seasons in Rochester, the Peterborough, ONT., native posted 35 goals and 31 assists in 28 games after getting picked sixth overall in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft.
Brown recently completed his first season in the NLL, spending time in Rochester and Georgia. The 24-year-old appeared in 3 regular season games with the Knighthawks after signing on March 3, 2018. He also played in all 5 of the team’s games during the 2018 NLL Playoffs.
Before arriving in Rochester, Brown suited up in 7 games with the Georgia Swarm, recording 1 goal, 6 assists, and 22 loose balls. A defenseman from Seneca Nation, Brown initially was drafted by Georgia in the third round (24th overall) of the 2017 NLL Entry Draft.
