A car burst into flames on Fourth Street early Tuesday morning, with the flames eventually spreading to the two houses on either side of the driveway.

Firefighters reported both two-story family homes in flames when they arrived, and assisted in rescuing four dogs at the rear of the property, and several other dogs who were on the second floor of one of the burning houses. Everyone got out safely. No civilians were injured but two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital to be treated and released.

A total of four adults and five children were forced out of their homes and are being aided by the Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
