Two people have been found shot to death in the backyard of a Fairport home. Fairport Police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
The bodies of John Beilman and his 27-year-old daughter, Nicole, were found in the backyard before dawn after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots. Police Chief Sam Farina says that Nicole had Rett Syndrome, a neurological disorder that confined her to a wheelchair and left her 100 percent disabled. Farina says evidence shows Beilman first shot his daughter with a pump-action shotgun, then turned the gun on himself. The chief says a note was found indicating Beilman’s intentions.
Authorities say John Beilman’s wife Donna was inside the home at the time of the shooting, but didn’t hear the gunshots.
Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn says this was a difficult crime scene and commended the work of Fairport Police.
