Two people have been arrested by Rochester police after a woman was beaten and robbed at the 490 Motel on Mt Read Blvd. The woman was hospitalized for her injuries and later died, meaning the two may be facing additional charges.
Police say they charged Christopher Pate and Jennifer Shea with assault, burglary and robbery in the case of Alicia Saladyga, who was robbed on April 7th and died on April 22nd.
Pate is the same man who is suing the city and the Rochester Police Department over use of excessive force when he was beaten by two police officers in 2018. Pate was mistaken for a wanted man. One of the officers involved was found guilty of assault and both were fired.
Pate and Shea were arrested in October, 2020 for allegedly striking a man with a hammer and cutting him with a razor blade.
