Rochester police took two men into custody Wednesday afternoon after a chase that led to a car crashing into a tree on the West Side. Police say they received a 911 call about what appeared to be a blanket-covered body being loaded into a car by two men on Bloss Street. Officers found the car and tried to stop it, but the driver sped away before crashing into a parked car and a tree at Saratoga Avenue and Ambrose Street.
Two men jumped from the car and ran, but were quickly caught. One of them had an unlicensed handgun.
Police found a man’s body in the car and attempted to revive him, but without success. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation led back to a house on Bloss Street which weas investigated by the SWAT team. No other victims were found. Charges are pending against the two men who fled.
