A two alarm fire broke out shortly after 8:00 Wednesday night in an apartment building on Electric Avenue in Northwest Rochester.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the attic, with crews attacking the fire inside and on the roof while other firefighters searched the building and made sure everyone was out. Although the building had smoke detectors, none was in the attic where the fire started and none went off. There was extensive damage to the building and the three apartments, and the Red Cross is helping the nine adults who lived there with alternate housing.

The Rochester Fire Investigation Unit is working on the cause.
