Two branches of the Jesuit order have released the names of their priests accused of sexually abusing minors, dating back more than 60 years. A former McQuaid Jesuit High School principal is on that list.

Cornelius Carr was principal of McQuaid from 1960-to-1964. He was from Buffalo, and left the school to become provincial supervisor of the Jesuits in Buffalo. He later taught at a Catholic school in New Orleans, where a student has accused Carr of sexually abusing him while he was in his early teens. Carr went on to teach at schools in Florida.

McQuaid has responded with a statement that also names another priest: the Reverend Roy Drake, who taught math and science at the school from 1957-to-1960. Allegations were raised against him after he left McQuaid and was teaching at Fordham Preparatory School in New York City in 1969. He died in 2008.

A McQuaid Spokesman says the school has no record of either priest committing sexual or any other misconduct while at McQuaid.

The Jesuit order will release names of its priests in the Northeast Province who have credible claims of sexual abuse against a minor or vulnerable adult. McQuaid is in that province, but spokesman Sean Mullen says the school is not aware of any additional names at this time.
