Rochester police say an officer is in good condition, sitting up and talking, after he was shot in the neck Tuesday morning on the West Side.

Police say the officer responded just before 8:00 a.m. to a call of a man trying to enter a home with a gun on Hague Street, which runs between Lyell and West Avenues in the Dutchtown Neighborhood. The armed man fired repeatedly at the officer,  hitting him in the upper body before running away.

Police have blocked off Hague Street and have a major presence in the area. They’re asking area residents to call police if they see anything suspicious or saw any of the incident. They have taken several people into custody for questioning, but no arrest has been made so far.
