A 12-year-old Rochester boy is in police custody after allegedly stealing a car and leading them on a chase around the east side of the city Thursday.

Police say the car was stolen about 8:00 a.m. around Parsells Avenue and Greeley Street. The boy drove at high speed up and down side streets, driving at parked police cars and over curbs and sidewalks. Then he pulled into a dead-end parking lot where he crashed the car into three parked vehicles near Parsells Avenue and Culver Road.

The boy ran from the scene and was located at home after family members called police.

The 12-year-old has been charged with burglary, grand larceny and reckless endangerment. He’s being held in a juvenile detention facility.
