A 10-year-old girl braiding her grandmother’s hair in her own living room was hit by four bullets early Saturday morning on Moulson Street, between Hudson and Seneca Avenues.

About 20 shots were fired into the home about 2:00 a.m. striking the girl, who was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover. Police and Mayor Malik Evans called the act “senseless” in a Saturday news conference. Police Chief David Smith says the house was targeted, but the actual target of the gunfire is believed to be a parolee who was not home at the time.

The 32-year-old man arrived at the house as police were investigating and refused to cooperate with them, even trying to dissuade family members from talking to police and trying to destroy evidence.
